Hootsuite Certifications

Hello readers! This week I gained my Hootsuite Certifications on Platform and Social Marketing. Definitely worth the long haul because now I have two shiny new certifications on my LinkedIn. Wowee!

First I’ll share some important takeaways I learned from the Hootsuite Platform:

  1. Hootsuite lets you monitor and engage with all your social networks in one place, decreasing the risk of missing an important engagement opportunity.
  2. When using the Social Profile Picker in the Composer, you can pick which social accounts you want to post to all at once.
  3. Owly and Vanity links are trackable to view how many people clicked on it it!
  4. You can Set the frequency that Hootsuite checks for new content to once a day, rather than once an hour with RSS Feeds.
  5. You can find out if people on the other side of the world are talking about your brand with Geo-Search streams. EX: Your company opened a new branch in Hawaii and want to know what local people and radio stations, etc have to say.

Next, I moved onto the Social Marketing Platform where I learned SO much about social media that I had no clue of. There are so many aspects to social media marketing that we as users don’t think twice about as we aimlessly scroll through our accounts.

  1. Social media tactics can be grouped into three buckets: Paid, Owned and Earned.
  2. Earned tactics are things like utilizing community engagement. Ex: Influencers, advocates and employees to boost awareness
  3. Paid Tactics is spending money to get social messages and content in front of a targeted audience. Ex: social ads, boosted posts, paid influencers.
  4. Curated Content is content gathered from trusted sources within your industry.
  5. Lastly, Created Content is content produced within your organization

I learned so much from this process and now I feel like I have a million questions for my coworker who manages my organization’s social media accounts.

Thanks!!

Kendra
