Hi friends!
Welcome to my real life blog! If you’ve made it this far to actually read my blog then wow… I appreciate you. So if you’re wondering why you’re here then I’ll let you know that this semester at Missouri State I am enrolled in Principles of Public Relations or also known as “COM 309.” Students are to create blogs to describe their journey in the class. I’m hoping to expand my knowledge on the blog world and see the impact it can make.
If you didn’t know me already then I’ll give you some background. I’m a 22 year old junior here at MSU of course. I recently changed my major to Public Relations and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m originally from Eureka MO just right outside of St. Louis. You know the town with SixFlags? I usually just tell people I’m from Stl but some will argue that “that’s too far.” My favorite things in life include my adopted 4 year old Blue Heeler/Australian Shepard Mix dog, Sadie. She is the reason I get out of bed in the mornings, quite literally. I also really enjoy thrifting and antiquing and never paying full price for anything.
My biggest ongoing hobby is my houseplant collection that grows monthly (sorry bank account.) I love having green everywhere in my home and there is nothing better than finding a rare or wishlist plant. I do consider myself to have a “green thumb” but I have definitely killed some plants…trial and error right?
As far as my career path after graduation, I see myself working for a non-profit of some sort. I have always had the biggest soft spot for animals and animal welfare groups always need a voice for representation of what they’re doing. Growing up my father worked for the St. Louis Zoo and I have always been enamored with the idea of working there. Occasionally when I share what I want to do with someone I get reminded that there isn’t money in animal welfare and arguably non-profits. But to me organizations like that tend to have the most caring and impactful people that make the biggest differences in our community. I guess ultimately I just want to make a difference.
